Avaya Wireless LAN solutions is a family of products using Radio Frequency (RF) technology, based on the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) 802.11a/b (Wi-Fi compliant) standard for wireless LANs. Products include the Avaya Wireless Access Points, network interface cards for computer devices, antenna systems, and network management and control software. Avaya Wireless provides end-users with robust, reliable connectivity and the high performance of wired LANs, but with the flexibility, mobility, and attractive cost of wireless. Because Avaya Wireless networking is fully compatible with existing wired and wireless LANs, you can use it to build a complete wireless infrastructure, add to an existing wireless LAN, or add a wireless extension to a wired LAN.

Security

Security is always a concern in the wireless arena, so Avaya wireless goes beyond the security offered with most wireless systems, making use of additional security mechanisms. Protection against eavesdropping and unauthorized access is achieved via MAC-based Access Control Table, RADIUS authentication functionality, and an optional encryption mechanism (Wired Equivalent Privacy, or WEP) based on 128 RC4 encryption technology.
